GET INVOLVED
The foundation of The Ashram School Project is Volunteer Action. We are constantly in need of volunteers to envision and execute various events. As a volunteer you may join in for one of the ‘Events’, help organise one or just come along on a weekend to bond with the children.
The sustainer of The Ashram School Project is Financial Support. The students of the Ashram School are in constant need of study material, books, shoes etc. Due to insufficient funds the school is unable to address issues like construction/renovations within the premise to maintain a healthy environment. A small amount can go a long way in shaping future lives.

"TASP makes space for meaningful exchanges to take place that can really make a significant difference in the lives of the talented yet lesser known tribal communities as well as the resourceful yet unaware city folks.
I'd known of TASP for quite some time before I actually visited the school for the first event-The Art Competition. The school complex nestles in a picturesque setting with a river flowing by and a large open space in the middle. Children of all ages scamper about with a shy yet twinkling demeanour morphing into a disciplined obedience in the presence of 'outsiders'.
There is much that can be done to improve the premises but what really interests me about this project is the holistic approach towards an overall development of the community by creating an empowering environment for the children. The willingness of the school elders and the foundation support goes a long way in creating scope for the success of TASP. There remains much to discover and explore and I feel privileged to be a part of this grassroots initiative; something I've always yearned to work with."

"I joined the project because it is one of those rare projects which involve community to channelize their strength to help themselves. I connected with the opportunity for community participation."

The green layering of perfections crafted into one of the most exquisite pieces had the ability to take my breath away. It was a moment of realisation of how all of my aspirations for architecture found echoes in that one piece of art made by the students at the ashram school. This was an assertion of the fact that if designing was to intervene into the site it must be trough the already developed ingenious methods existing on site.
Maybe it was the river bank or the love for moving in the kids that added to the atmosphere for me the piece of leaf crafted was a transcendence point of what the ashram school meant or aspired to become.
For me the existing school was an opportunity to experience the poetics of all that I love about Architecture also realising the things that emerge with it. Maybe it’s the Japanese artist’s absolute embellishments to the place which have transformed the aesthetics of the place.
I want to take this opportunity to cite experiences stitching together to initiate an idea of realising how architecture could seamlessly blend with the most crystallised experiences which the site generates/generated. The site developed logic of its own seamlessly integrating their needs to the available resources. This is going to be an opportunity to experience an architecture growing from the inhabitants of these spaces. These are the same inhabitants who devised the green layering of perfections.
